Our Mission

Building Better Protectors Through Better Training

Baker Defensive Tactics exists to help military, law enforcement, executive protection, security, healthcare, corrections, and protective service professionals perform more effectively in high-consequence environments.

We believe defensive tactics should be designed around the realities of the people who use them. Every profession operates under different legal standards, environmental constraints, equipment requirements, and operational objectives. A one-size-fits-all approach simply does not work.

Our mission is to develop practical, scalable, and defensible training solutions that help organizations improve performance, reduce liability, and increase confidence under pressure. Whether delivering one of our established training systems or developing a custom curriculum for a specific client, our focus remains the same: creating training that works in the real world.

For decades, Baker Defensive Tactics has worked with executive protection teams, law enforcement agencies, military personnel, security organizations, training academies, and corporate clients across the United States. Our programs combine defensive tactics, firearms integration, weapon retention, edged weapons, verbal de-escalation, scenario-based training, and instructor development into cohesive systems that can be taught, maintained, and implemented over time.

We are committed to helping organizations build capable professionals who can make sound decisions, manage risk, and perform effectively when it matters most.

Our Core Values

Operational Relevance
Training must reflect the realities of the environment in which it will be applied.
Professional Excellence
We hold ourselves to the same standards of performance we expect from our clients.
Integrity & Accountability
Honest communication, ethical conduct, and doing what we say we will do.
Continuous Improvement
We constantly test, evaluate, refine, and improve our systems and methodologies.
Safety Without Compromise
Effective training must balance performance, safety, and long-term sustainability.
“Training is not the goal. Performance is. The purpose of training is to prepare people to perform effectively when the stakes are highest.”
